Home Sweet Home

Weekend at Grandmas!

The good old "Town Days"... Growing up in a small town was so much fun! It has its pros & cons but I loved it. Some of the perks of a small town is that every body knows everybody. This could be a bad thing because everyone was usually in everyones business but now that i look back on it, it was pretty cool. Where else could you pull into any gas station, have them pump your gas for you, meanwhile your in the store stashing up on penny candy & powdered doughnuts and with out telling them your name you walk back to your car and drive away. Same with the Drug Store & Movie Store... Just put it on my tab! I feel like now days I have to take proof of i.d. along with my member card just to rent a movie.....Don't these people know who I am!!! Not that i am someone special or anything....but now days i am more like a number on a piece of plastic.
During the Summer nights my Dad played on a baseball league and it was so much fun to meet up with my friends at the games. We had our water weenies, (i was 8yrs. or so) our foot long licorice ropes and our fun dips and i was set.
The majority of my summer days where spent on the lake. As i got older my brother and i would take the boat out with our friends and once he left to college, my girl friends and i would take it out ourselves. Then there was big hole where we would cliff jump and after the sun went down we would have bon fires on the beach.
I had my 10 year High School Reunion while we were there, so i guess it brought back a ton of fun memories. It was good to see old friends and what they were up to.
Anyways, on Aberdeen Days the whole town literally gathers in the park for breakfast where there is pancakes, sausage, eggs, bacon, hash browns...the whole shabang. Then you can walk the side walk sales on main street until the parade starts. Then in the evening there is the fish fry and then the melodrama at the school complete (with all the booing, hissing & applauding).
My family usually spent most of this day on the lake and it was no different going home this time. We all loaded up on the boat and had a perfect evening on the lake. The water couldn't have been better! It was a perfect day!

I love taking Amberly on the boat because she gets so nervous and doesn't move. She cuddles the whole time.

Pancake Picnic in the Park - thats pretty much the whole town!

Growing up in Aberdeen was pretty cool! We had some fun times on the lake with just the girls. I'm so sad we didn't have a chance to cross paths that day, you'll have to come again this summer!
